- Hook 2XL dry-fly/hopper, 8-12
- Thread Tan 6/0
Materials
- Foam body Tan/yellow closed cell foam (2 layers 2mm)
- Under-body flash/dubbing Tan dubbing (small)
- Rubber legs Barred tan rubber legs (2 pair)
- Elk/deer hair wing Natural deer hair (small clump)
- Indicator foam Orange foam strip (small tab)
How to tie it
- Start thread and lay a base along the shank.
- Tie a tan foam strip down at the bend and segment it forward with thread wraps to form the body, leaving a short tag at the bend.
- Tie in a pair of barred rubber legs on each side at the mid-body.
- Stack a small clump of elk hair and tie in as a downwing over the body, tips to the bend.
- Fold a second foam strip forward over the thorax to form a bullet head and tie down behind the eye.
- Add a small orange foam indicator tab on top for visibility.
- Set the front legs, build a small thread head, and whip finish.
