Tyer Recipe

  • Hook Salmon/steelhead hook, #1
  • Thread Orange 6/0

Materials

  • Fox tail (tail) Fluorescent green material (One clump)
  • Chenille (body) Fluorescent orange chenille (About 5 in)
  • Krystal Flash (wing) Green holographic tinsel (8-12 strands)
  • Head cement Clear head cement (One drop)

How to tie it

  1. Set the size 1 salmon hook in the vise and lay an orange thread base back to the bend.
  2. Cut a clump of fluorescent green fox tail, even the butts and tie it in at the bend as a tail one shank-length long; trim the butts and bind them down.
  3. Tie in the fluorescent orange chenille at the base of the tail and bring the thread forward to just behind the eye.
  4. Wind the chenille forward in touching turns to form the body, tie it off behind the eye and trim.
  5. Take 8-12 strands of green Krystal Flash and tie them in on top as a wing, straight over the back.
  6. Trim the wing butts, whip finish with five or six turns, cut the thread and add a drop of head cement.
