How to tie it
Slide the copper bead onto the curved shank hook, small hole first, and start brown thread behind it.
Run the thread back to the bend and tie in three pheasant tail fibres as a tail about half a shank-length long.
Tie in the small brown wire at the rear and bind it along the near side of the shank.
Wind the brown thread forward and back until you have a smooth, slightly tapered abdomen covering the rear two-thirds of the shank.
Rib the abdomen with five or six evenly spaced open turns of brown wire, tie it off at the front of the abdomen and helicopter the tag away.
Tie in the black goose biot flat over the top at the front of the abdomen, tip pointing to the rear, to be pulled forward later as the wingcase.
Tie one strand of olive Krystal Flash in along each side of the shank at the same point, pointing rearward.
Dub a small pinch of brown Antron and build a thorax noticeably thicker than the abdomen, stopping just behind the bead.
Pull the goose biot forward over the thorax and secure it behind the bead, then pull one Krystal Flash strand forward along each side over the thorax, tie them off behind the bead and trim them level with the front of the thorax.
Build a small thread collar behind the bead, whip finish and add a drop of head cement.
