Slide a slotted tungsten bead onto the jig hook small hole first and seat it behind the eye. Start black thread just behind the bead.
Catch in 3-4 pheasant tail fibers at the bend for the tail, one hook-gap long.
Bind in the silver wire along the far side and a strand of red floss on top, leaving both hanging at the bend.
Build a slim thread abdomen forward to the 70% mark. Keep it thin, half the bulk you think.
Counter-wrap the wire forward in 5-6 evenly spaced turns for segmentation, then helicopter it off.
Dub a small ball of black dubbing for the thorax up to the bead.
Pull the red floss forward over the thorax as a wingcase and bind behind the bead. Lay two short strands of pearl Krystal Flash over the top as a sighter/gill flash, snipped to bead length.
Whip finish behind the bead and add a drop of cement.
