Tungsten bead Silver/nickel tungsten bead (1, sized to hook)
Pheasant tail fibers Natural brown pheasant tail fibers (3-5 for tail)
Wire Silver wire (1 length for rib)
Dubbing Black dubbing (1 pinch for thorax)
Floss Red floss (short length for wing case)
Krystal Flash Pearl flashabou (2-4 strands for legs)
How to tie it
Slide a silver tungsten bead to the eye and start black thread behind it.
Tie in 3-5 pheasant tail fibers at the bend for a tail about a hook-gap long.
Bind in silver wire at the bend, then wrap a smooth, slightly tapered black thread abdomen forward to the 60% mark.
Counter-wrap the silver wire forward in 5-6 evenly spaced turns and tie off for a flashy segmented rib.
Tie in a short length of red floss pointing rearward for the wing case, and bind a few strands of pearl Krystal Flash along each side as legs to the hook point.
Dub a small black thorax ball behind the bead.
Pull the red floss forward over the thorax as a hot-spot wing case, secure behind the bead, and trim.
