Materials

  • Tail Mixed brown and grizzly hackle fibers
  • Egg Sac Bright yellow dubbing
  • Body and Thorax Adams Gray Dubbing
  • Wing Post Yellow para post
  • Hackle Brown and grizzly rooster cape

How to tie it

  1. Start the thread at the 70% mark and post up a clump of fluorescent poly for a high-visibility wing, standing it vertical.
  2. Run the thread to the bend and tie in a tail of mixed brown and grizzly fibers a full shank length long.
  3. Dub a slim, tapered gray body from the bend up to the post.
  4. Tie in brown and grizzly hackles together at the base of the post, shiny sides up.
  5. Wind both hackles 4-5 turns down the post parachute-style and secure the tips against the shank in front of the post.
  6. Dub a touch of body ahead of the post to the eye, then whip finish and cement the head only.
