Thread Tan or fluorescent to match body (140D / 6-0) 6/0 / 140D
Materials
Tail Pearl or matching Krystal Flash (3-4 strands)
Underbody Ice Dub, matching color (UV pearl, tan, or purple) (pinch)
Body/Overbody 2mm craft foam strip in body color (tan, purple, olive, or black) (1 thin strip)
Wing White poly yarn / Para Post (for hi-vis visibility) (1 small clump)
Legs Barred Sili Legs / rubber legs, color to match (2 pairs)
How to tie it
Start the thread mid-shank and lay a thread base back to the bend.
Tie in 3-4 strands of pearl Krystal Flash at the bend as a short tail, about half a shank length.
Cut a thin (about 2mm wide for these small sizes) strip of tan foam. Tie the foam down at the bend so the long end points back over the tail.
Dub a thin layer of tan Ice Dub over the rear half of the shank to give the foam a sparkly underbody.
Pull the foam forward over the dubbed underbody and lock it down with two firm wraps at the mid-point, forming the rear body segment; leave the remaining foam pointing forward.
Tie in one pair of barred Sili legs on each side at this mid-point tie-down.
Dub a little more Ice Dub, then tie in a small clump of white poly yarn standing upright as the hi-vis wing/indicator over the thorax.
Pull the front foam forward over the thorax and tie it down just behind the eye to form the head and front body segment; trim the foam butt short.
Tie in the second pair of Sili legs, one on each side at the head, angled back. Whip finish and cement. The white poly wing keeps this tiny attractor visible in fast water and as a dry-dropper hopper.
Trim all legs to about one shank length and the tail to length.
