Deer hair Natural tan deer hair (1 clump for extended body)
Moose body hair Dark moose body hair (3 fibers for tails)
Calf body hair or poly White calf body hair (small clump for post)
Dry-fly hackle Grizzly hackle (1 feather)
How to tie it
Stack a clump of tan deer hair and, starting at the bend, bind it as a bullet-shaped extended body, ribbing forward with open thread wraps to segment it one shank length past the bend.
Split 2-3 moose fibers as tails off the tip of the extended body.
At the 70% mark, post up a clump of white calf hair or poly for visibility.
Tie in a grizzly hackle at the base of the post.
Wind the hackle 4-6 turns down the post parachute-style and secure the tip against the shank.
Wrap thread forward to the eye, whip finish, and cement the head only.
