Dubbing Pale yellow dubbing (1 pinch)
Deer hair Natural/dark elk hair (1 clump for wing)
Dry-fly hackle Grizzly and brown hackle (2 feathers)
How to tie it
Start the thread at the bend and tie in a clump of tan deer hair pointing rearward, then rib it forward with tight thread wraps to form a segmented extended body a full shank length long past the bend.
Return the thread to the hook and dub a pale yellow thorax base up to the 70% mark.
Stack a clump of natural deer hair and tie it in as an upright divided or single wing about one shank length tall.
Tie in grizzly and brown hackles just behind the wing.
Wrap both hackles together 4-6 turns through the thorax, splitting the wing, and tie off at the eye.
Whip finish and cement the head. Trim any stray body fibers so the silhouette stays clean.
