How to tie it
Mount the 2x-long hook and lay a thread base to the bend.
Clean and stack a bunch of cream elk hair; tie it in by the tips at the bend so the butts point forward, then rib thread back through it to form a reversed, segmented extended body off the bend.
Tie in a sparse bunch of yellow elk as an underwing over the body.
Lacquer a mottled hen saddle feather, trim to shape and set it tent-style over the back as the overwing, tips just past the bend.
Clean, stack and tie in a bunch of elk hair pointing forward over the eye, then fold it back and lock it down to form a bullet head that flares a collar; the swept collar is what floats it and stands in for legs.
Whip finish right behind the bullet head and add a touch of cement.
