  • Hook Curved emerger/scud hook, 12-14
  • Thread Rusty brown 8/0

Materials

  • Zelon or antron Amber zelon or antron (small clump)
  • Turkey biot Rusty brown (1 biot)
  • CDC feather Dun cdc feather (1-2 feathers)
  • Dubbing Pinkish-tan (Hendrickson) (small pinch)

How to tie it

  1. Start the thread behind the eye and run it down the curve to the bend.
  2. Tie in a sparse trailing shuck of amber Zelon at the bend, about half a shank long, and pick it apart so it looks ragged.
  3. Bind in a rusty brown biot by the tip at the bend, notched edge trailing so the wrapped body shows a fine natural rib.
  4. Wrap the biot forward in touching turns to the 65% mark to form a segmented abdomen and tie off.
  5. Tie in one or two CDC feathers by the butts and stand them up as a short emerging wing tuft, no longer than the abdomen.
  6. Dub a pinkish-tan thorax around and in front of the wing to the eye, keeping it slim.
  7. Whip finish behind the eye. No cement on the CDC.
