• Hook Jig hook (TMC 403BL-J), 12
• Thread Black 70 denier

Materials

• Brass dumbbell (DAZL) eyes Black mono eyes small (1/8")
• SLF Prism dubbing Black dubbing (body)
• Sili Legs Pumpkin green fleck (2-4 (antennae/legs))
• Pine squirrel zonker strip Black rabbit strip (one (split claws/carapace))
• Pine squirrel fur (dubbing loop) Black dubbing (collar)

How to tie it

1. Lash 1/8" black dumbbell eyes near the front of the jig hook with tight figure-8 wraps so the fly rides hook-point-up.
2. At the bend, tie in a short tuft of black SLF dubbing and a pair of pumpkin Sili Legs splayed rearward as antennae.
3. Split a pine-squirrel zonker strip lengthwise partway down, then tie it in flesh-side-down at the bend so the split end forms two claws over the tail.
4. Dub a slim black SLF body forward to the midpoint.
5. Fold the squirrel strip forward over the back as a carapace and bind it down behind the eyes; the split legs frame the sides.
6. Spin a small pinch of pine squirrel fur in a dubbing loop and wrap 2-3 turns as a leggy collar behind the eyes.
7. Whip finish at the eyes and cement.
