Tyer Recipe
- Hook Salmon/steelhead wet, down-eye, 4-8
- Thread Black 6/0
Materials
- Hackle fibers Red hackle fibers (tail)
- Floss or chenille (butt) Fluorescent green floss or chenille (short butt)
- Chenille or dubbing Black dubbing (body)
- Oval tinsel Silver oval tinsel (rib)
- Saddle hackle Black saddle hackle (collar)
- Bucktail or calf tail White bucktail (wing)
How to tie it
- Start thread and lay a base to the bend.
- Tie in a short red hackle-fiber tail at the bend.
- Form a short fluorescent-green butt at the base of the tail.
- Tie in the silver rib, then wrap a black chenille or dubbed body forward to just behind the eye.
- Rib the body with evenly spaced turns of silver tinsel and tie off.
- Wrap a black hackle collar and sweep the fibers back.
- Tie in a white bucktail wing over the top extending to the tail.
- Build a neat head, whip finish and cement.
