  • Hook Standard or curved dry (TMC 100 / 2487), 14-20

Materials

  • Z-lon trailing shuck Amber zelon or antron (short tuft)
  • Turkey or goose biot Match hatch (PMD/BWO) (one (abdomen))
  • CDC feathers Natural dun cdc feather (2 (wing))
  • Dry-fly hackle Dun hackle (one)
  • Superfine dubbing Match hatch (thorax)

How to tie it

  1. Start thread mid-shank and tie in a short amber Z-lon shuck at the bend, half a shank long.
  2. Bind a biot by the tip and wind a ribbed abdomen forward to the 55% mark, keeping the rear low so it rides in the film.
  3. Stack two dun CDC feathers and tie them in as an upright-to-forward wing clump one shank tall.
  4. Wind a dun hackle 2-3 turns at the wing base, then trim the barbs flat across the bottom so the fly sits low. The crippled posture.
  5. Dub a small thorax to cover the tie-downs, figure-8ing around the wing.
  6. Whip finish under the eye and cement the thread only.
