Lay a thread base to the bend of the curved hook. Tie in 6-8 lemon wood-duck fibers as a short trailing shuck about half a shank long, angling down below the bend to imitate the nymphal husk.
Tie in an olive-dyed goose biot at the tail and wrap forward in touching turns to the 60% point for a slim, segmented abdomen.
Stack two natural mallard/dun CDC feathers and tie them in upright at the 60% point as a budding emerger wing, a bit shorter than a full dun wing (about three-quarters shank length).
Dub a sparse olive rabbit thorax behind and in front of the wing.
Tie in a small section of olive-dyed mottled turkey flat and make one or two turns as a soft, sparse collar behind the eye to suggest legs and emerging wings; tie off.
