Reference Recipe

  • Hook 4XL streamer or jig, #6-10
  • Thread Black 6/0

Materials

  • Bead Gold or black bead (1 (optional))
  • Tail Black or olive material (rabbit strip (zonker))
  • Body Black or olive material (hare/cross-cut rabbit dubbing brush)
  • Head Hot orange arctic fox (dubbing collar)

How to tie it

  1. Slide a bead to the eye if using one, then mount the hook.
  2. Tie in a rabbit-strip tail one to one and a half shank lengths long at the bend, hide side down.
  3. Tie in a cross-cut rabbit strip or spin a hare dubbing brush at the bend.
  4. Wrap the rabbit or dubbing brush forward in touching turns, stroking fibers back, to just behind the head area.
  5. Tie off, leaving room for a collar.
  6. Dub a bright hot-orange collar or head just behind the bead as a trigger point.
  7. Whip finish and clip, then pick out the body so it is full and mobile.
