Reference Recipe

  • Hook 3XL streamer or jig, #8-12
  • Thread Black 6/0

Materials

  • Bead Black tungsten bead (1)
  • Tail Black or olive material (marabou)
  • Body Black or olive material (dubbing, coated)
  • Rib Copper thorax stripe (fine wire)
  • Flash Pearl flashabou (few strands)

How to tie it

  1. Slide a tungsten bead to the eye and mount the hook.
  2. Tie in a marabou tail one shank length long at the bend with a couple strands of flash.
  3. Tie in a length of fine copper wire at the bend.
  4. Dub a slim, smooth body forward to just behind the bead.
  5. Counter-wrap the copper wire forward in 5-6 open turns and tie off for a segmented rib.
  6. Whip finish behind the bead and clip.
  7. Coat the dubbed body with a thin layer of UV resin and cure it to a hard, durable, translucent shell.
