How to tie it
Lay a thread base back to where the barb was, then tie in four or five peacock sword fibres as a tail and bury the butts with a few wraps.
Tie in the brown floss at the rear as a rib and park it out of the way with a magnet or material clip.
Tie in the flat diamond braid at the rear, take the thread up front, and wind the braid forward letting it lay flat (cord it up if you want more bulk); tie off and trim.
Counter-wrap the brown floss forward over the body in open turns, letting it lay flat. It tones down the flash of the braid; tie off and trim.
Tie in a second bunch of four or five peacock sword fibres on top at the front as a topping, and trim the butts, then add a few extra wraps to smooth the area.
Prepare the wing off the hook: stack two green saddle hackles inside with a barred ginger feather on the outside of each, tips aligned, and lock them together with a drop of UV resin where the barbs meet the stems.
Pull off extra thread, lay the assembled wing on top with two or three loose wraps, adjust it so it sits in the plane of the hook and reaches well past the tail, then pinch it and go forward with tighter wraps.
Lift the wing, snip the four stems as close as you can, and build a big streamer head with thread.
