Reference Recipe

  • Hook 3XL streamer or jig, #8-12
  • Thread Black 6/0

Materials

  • Bead Black tungsten bead (1)
  • Tail Black ostrich herl (marabou)
  • Body Orange permanent marker (chenille or dubbing)
  • Body hackle Black hackle (1 saddle, palmered)
  • Flash Orange holographic tinsel (few strands Krystal Flash)

How to tie it

  1. Slide a black tungsten bead to the eye and mount the hook.
  2. Start thread and tie in a black marabou tail one shank length long at the bend, with a few strands of orange flash.
  3. Tie in a black saddle hackle by the tip and a length of orange chenille at the bend.
  4. Wrap the chenille forward to just behind the bead to form the body.
  5. Palmer the black hackle forward over the body in 5-6 open turns and tie off behind the bead.
  6. Sweep the hackle fibers rearward and lock them with a few thread wraps.
  7. Whip finish behind the bead and clip.
