Reference Recipe

  • Hook 2XL long terrestrial/dry, #10-14
  • Thread Tan or black 6/0

Materials

  • Body Black or tan material (2mm foam strip)
  • Underbody Peacock ice dub (ice dub)
  • Legs Black ostrich herl (round rubber, 2 pairs)
  • Indicator Orange permanent marker (foam tab)

How to tie it

  1. Mount the hook and lay a thread base along the shank.
  2. Bind a foam strip on top at the bend, leaving the rear tag as a stub.
  3. Dub a thin band of ice dub, then pull the foam forward and bind it down at the midpoint to form the first (rear) segment.
  4. Tie in a pair of rubber legs at that tie-down point, one to each side.
  5. Dub another short band of ice dub, pull the foam forward again, and bind it at the 80% mark to form the front segment.
  6. Tie in the second pair of rubber legs at the front tie-down.
  7. Bind a small orange foam indicator tab on top, whip finish under the foam, and clip.
  8. Trim the legs to length and the front foam to a short lip over the eye.
