Classic Recipe
- Hook Saltwater hook, 1/0-4
- Thread White 3/0
Materials
- Tail White saddle hackle (4 feathers)
- Belly White bucktail (sparse)
- Eyes Lead dumbbell (1 pair)
- Flash Flashabou (sparse)
- Back Olive or chartreuse bucktail (sparse)
How to tie it
- Tie in dumbbell eyes on top of the shank, one-third back from the hook eye. Clouser style, glued and cinched.
- At the bend, tie in four white saddle hackles, paired and splayed. Deceiver style.
- Flip the hook. Tie in sparse white bucktail as the belly, flash, then olive or chartreuse bucktail as the back.
- Tapered head, whip finish, cement.
Substitutions
- Tail instead of White saddle hackle: White schlappen — Softer, more flow; EP Fibers (long) — Synthetic, sheds water
- Belly instead of White bucktail: White EP Fibers — Synthetic, lighter casting; White craft fur — Softer profile
- Eyes instead of Lead dumbbell: Tungsten dumbbell — Heavier for deeper water; Bead chain — Lighter for shallow flats
