Classic Recipe

  • Hook Bass or musky hook, 1/0-4
  • Thread Natural brown 3/0

Materials

  • Tail Chamois or leather strip (thin, mouse-tail length)
  • Body Natural deer or elk hair (spun and clipped to mouse shape)
  • Ears Leather or foam tabs (optional)
  • Whiskers Moose hair (optional)
  • Weed guard Heavy mono (1 loop)

How to tie it

  1. Mount hook, tie in leather tail
  2. Spin deer hair in tight clumps
  3. Pack hair forward, continue spinning to eye
  4. Clip to mouse shape, round body, flat bottom
  5. Add ears and whiskers
  6. Add weed guard
  7. Whip finish, seal thread with cement
