Materials
Tail Light dun Microfibbetts (2, split) (2 fibers)
Abdomen Tan marabou (a few barbs, dubbed/twisted) (few barbs)
Hackle post Monofilament tippet (3-4X) (1 short length)
Hackle Light dun rooster hackle (1 feather)
Thorax Superfine dubbing, PMD / pale tan (pinch)
How to tie it
Start the thread mid-shank and lay a base back to the bend.
Tie in two light dun Microfibbetts and split them into a V tail about one shank length long.
Tie in a few barbs of tan marabou at the bend; twist them into a rope and wrap forward to the 60% point to make a soft, gilly abdomen (Bob Quigley used marabou to suggest gills).
Tie in a short loop of monofilament at the 60% point standing up as a post; lock with three wraps, add one more loop and lock it down for a firm post.
Tie in the light dun hackle at the base of the mono post.
Dub a slightly fatter thorax with pale tan Superfine from the post forward to just behind the eye.
Wind the hackle up and around the mono post, 4-6 turns, then fold the mono loop forward over the top of the hackle and tie it off behind the eye so the fibers cradle the body like a parachute canopy.
Trim the mono and hackle tags, form a small head and whip finish.
