Hook Curved scud/midge hook, 12-18
Thread Red 8/0
Materials
Bead Black or silver bead (1 tungsten to size)
Body Red buzzer wrap (red wire or Frostbite)
Rib/segmentation Red buzzer wrap (built from wire wraps)
Thorax Black ostrich herl (peacock or black dubbing)
How to tie it
Slide a bead to the eye, mount the hook, and start thread behind it.
Run thread to the bend and tie in a length of red wire.
Optionally lay a thin thread underbody, then wrap the red wire forward in touching turns to just behind the bead for a bright segmented body.
Tie off and helicopter the wire to break it cleanly.
Dub a small dark thorax bump right behind the bead.
Whip finish behind the bead.
Coat the red wire body with thin UV resin for a wet, glassy blood-red glow.
