Nymph · Egg · Trout · Intermediate · 1 version
Reference Recipe
- Hook Curved scud/jig nymph hook, 10-14
- Thread Tan 8/0
Materials
- Bead Gold or black bead (1 tungsten to size)
- Tail/body Cream/chartreuse material (1 mop chenille finger)
- Collar Hare's ear (dubbing)
How to tie it
- Slide a tungsten bead to the eye and mount the hook.
- Start thread behind the bead and run it back to mid-shank.
- Bind a single mop-chenille finger on top so it extends about one shank length past the bend, its rounded tip forming the fat body.
- Wrap forward over the mop butt to lock it firmly and trim the excess close.
- Dub a short, shaggy hare's-ear collar behind the bead.
- Whip finish behind the bead and pick out the collar to add movement.
- Give the thread a drop of cement to keep the mop from pulling free.
