Classic Recipe

  • Hook Streamer hook, 2-8
  • Thread Varies 6/0

Materials

  • Body Thin foam strip (folded over shank)
  • Back Colored permanent marker (on foam)
  • Eyes Stick-on (1 pair)
  • Flash Flashabou (inside body)
  • Coating UV resin (over foam)

How to tie it

  1. Mount hook, lay a thread base and bind several strands of Flashabou along the top of the shank, trailing slightly past the bend.
  2. Lay a thin foam strip over the shank lengthwise and fold it down both sides, sandwiching the flash inside.
  3. Tie the foam down at the tail and at the head, the trapped flash now shimmers through the translucent foam.
  4. Color the back with permanent markers, olive, gray, or brown over the top, leaving the belly pale. Blend two colors for a natural fade.
  5. Apply stick-on eyes to each side of the head.
  6. Coat the whole body with UV resin and cure. The resin shell gives it that dense, jelly-like "gummy" look and makes it nearly indestructible.
