Reference Recipe

  • Hook Floating jig head (Gum Drop-style), 6-10
  • Thread To match tail 6/0

Materials

  • Head Chartreuse arctic fox (foam floating jig body)
  • Tail White/chartreuse material (marabou)
  • Legs Barred rubber legs (few strands round rubber)
  • Collar Grizzly hackle (1 saddle hackle)

How to tie it

  1. Seat the floating foam jig head on the hook and start thread on the shank behind it.
  2. Tie in a marabou tail about one shank length, kept sparse so it breathes.
  3. Wind thread back to lock the tail butts, then return forward.
  4. Tie in a saddle hackle and wind two or three turns for a soft collar behind the foam head.
  5. Whip finish and cement the thread wraps behind the foam.
  6. Pull a few rubber legs through the foam body with a needle so they splay to the sides.
  7. Trim the legs even and the tail to a lively length.
