Lateral scale flash Pearl flashabou (3 strands + 1 strand)
Saddle hackles Purple saddle hackle (2)
Arctic fox Purple arctic fox (1 clump (body))
Craft fur brush As desired craft fur brush (collar)
How to tie it
Lay a thread base back to about the hook point and saturate it with super glue or UV resin so the fly is bombproof.
Cut a ~6 in hank of purple flash blend, taper the ends by pulling, and tie it in folded on top: the bottom half slightly shorter, keeping it lifted on top of the shank.
Comb a clump of black craft fur, reverse-tie it pointing forward, then fold it back over the top as a dark over-wing and glue the base.
Tie in 3 strands of pearl lateral scale and split them along the sides down the length of the fly.
Tie in 2 purple saddle hackles on top, slightly longer than the wing, leaving a little web at the base for support.
Comb out a clump of purple arctic fox and tie it in around the shank (heavier on top than bottom) to add depth, then add 1 more strand of lateral scale.
Wrap or dub a craft-fur brush collar forward to fill the head area, stroking the fibers back as you go, and secure.
Attach the 10mm living eyes at the head with figure-eight and posting wraps.
Whip finish and coat the head and thread wraps with UV resin or super glue.
