Reference Recipe

  • Hook standard dry-fly hook, 18-22
  • Thread black 8/0

Materials

  • Body Peacock ice dub (1-2 herls)
  • Hackle Grizzly hackle (one undersized, palmered)

How to tie it

  1. Mount the small hook and start thread behind the eye.
  2. Tie in a grizzly hackle by the tip at the bend, then one or two peacock herls.
  3. Twist the herl into a rope and wrap a slim buggy body forward to just behind the eye.
  4. Palmer the grizzly hackle forward through the body in 5-6 open, evenly spaced turns.
  5. Tie off the hackle behind the eye and snip the excess.
  6. Whip finish and add a tiny drop of head cement.
