Reference Recipe
- Hook standard dry-fly hook, 18-22
- Thread black 8/0
Materials
- Body Peacock ice dub (1 herl)
- Hackle Grizzly hackle (one undersized, palmered)
- Post/Sighter Hi-vis white or orange (small tuft poly yarn)
How to tie it
- Mount the small hook and start thread behind the eye.
- Stand a short tuft of hi-vis poly yarn upright at the 75% mark as a sighter post.
- Tie in a grizzly hackle by the tip at the bend, then one peacock herl.
- Twist the herl into a rope and wind a slim body forward to the post.
- Palmer the grizzly hackle forward in 5-6 open turns, working around the post, and tie off.
- Whip finish behind the eye and trim the post to about one gap tall.
