Reference Recipe
- Hook standard dry-fly hook, 18-22
- Thread black 8/0
Materials
- Body Peacock ice dub (1 herl)
- Hackle Grizzly hackle (one undersized, palmered)
- Wing/Puff Natural dun CDC (small tuft)
How to tie it
- Mount the small hook and start thread behind the eye.
- Tie in a grizzly hackle by the tip at the bend, then one peacock herl.
- Twist the herl into a rope and wind a slim body forward to the 80% mark.
- Palmer the grizzly hackle forward in 5-6 open turns and tie off at the 80% mark.
- Tie in a small tuft of dun CDC standing up at the front as a wing and visibility puff.
- Build a tiny head, whip finish, and leave the CDC undressed so it stays buoyant.
