Rib Fine gold wire (optional, counter-wrap) (4-5 turns)
Body Grey/muskrat dubbing (dubbed slim)
Hackle Grizzly or dun hackle (palmered over body)
Wing Natural elk hair (1 stacked clump over back)
How to tie it
Dub a slim grey body from the bend to about the 75% mark.
Tie in a grizzly or dun hackle at the front and palmer it back over the body in 4-5 open turns (counter-wrap fine gold wire forward through it to lock it in and add durability).
Trim the hackle flat on the bottom so the fly sits low and rides on its 'legs.'
Stack a clump of natural elk hair and tie it in as a downwing, tips reaching just past the bend, butts facing forward.
Trim the butts to form a small upright head and whip finish behind the eye.
The flared hollow elk hair is what floats the fly and mimics the tented caddis wing.
