Midge · Trout · Intermediate · 2 versions
Reference Recipe
- Hook curved buzzer/grub hook, 10-16
- Thread gray 8/0
Materials
- Body Gray flotation (thread or floss, thin)
- Rib Silver metal tape (fine wire or pearl tinsel)
- Breathers White uni stretch (small tuft antron, at head)
- Cheeks/Thorax Gunmetal gray material (dubbing or thread build-up)
How to tie it
- Mount the hook and run a smooth, slim thread base right around the bend, keeping it thin.
- Tie in the silver rib at the bend.
- Build a slim gray body forward to the 80% mark, tapering slightly fatter toward the front.
- Rib the body with 5-6 evenly spaced open turns and tie off.
- Tie in a small tuft of white antron breathers at the head, standing over the eye.
- Build a slightly fatter gunmetal-gray thorax behind the breathers to suggest the wingbuds.
- Whip finish, then coat the whole body with thin UV resin or varnish for the classic glassy buzzer shine.
