Tyer Recipe

  • Hook Standard wet fly hook, 12-16
  • Thread Orange 8/0

Materials

  • Body silk Hot orange body silk (1 layer)
  • Rib Gold wire or tinsel (1 strand)
  • Thorax Peacock herl (1-2 herls)
  • Hackle Dark honey dun or furnace hen (1 feather)

How to tie it

  1. Wind a smooth hot-orange silk body over the rear two-thirds and rib it with fine gold.
  2. Wind a short peacock herl thorax at the front.
  3. Tie in a dark honey-dun hen hackle and take one or two soft turns.
  4. Build a small head and whip finish.
