Materials

  • Bead Gold bead (one, sized to hook)
  • Tail Brown goose biots (2, splayed)
  • Body Green shell lip (peacock-green Ice Dub or green biots)
  • Rib Gold middle (fine wire or flat tinsel)
  • Hackle Brown hackle (one, soft collar)
  • Wings White goose biots (2, tied flat over back)

How to tie it

  1. Slide a gold bead to the eye and mount the hook; add a few weighting wraps behind the bead.
  2. Start thread at the bend and tie in two brown goose biots splayed into a short V tail.
  3. Bind in the gold rib, then dub a green Ice Dub body forward to just behind the bead.
  4. Counter-wrap the rib in 5 open turns for flash and segmentation.
  5. Wind a brown soft-hackle collar of 2 turns and sweep the fibers down and back.
  6. Tie two white goose biots flat over the back in a shallow V, tips reaching the body midpoint, as the signature wings.
  7. Whip finish behind the bead and cement.
