Tyer Recipe
- Hook standard wet fly, 8-12
- Thread brown 8/0
Materials
- seal fur or dubbing Olive-green dubbing (body)
- oval tinsel Gold oval tinsel (rib)
- pheasant tail / cock pheasant centre fibers Natural brown pheasant tail fibers (wing)
- hen hackle Red-brown (ginger) hen hackle (2-3 turns)
How to tie it
- Start thread and lay a base to the bend.
- Tie in gold oval tinsel for the rib at the bend.
- Dub an olive-green seal-fur body forward, leaving room at the head.
- Rib forward with the gold tinsel in evenly spaced open turns and tie off.
- Tie in a wing of cock pheasant tail fibers sloping back over the body.
- Tie in and wrap 2-3 turns of a soft red-brown hen hackle at the front, sweeping back.
- Whip finish.
