Materials

  • Tail Olive marabou (short tuft)
  • Abdomen Olive ostrich herl (dubbing or marabou)
  • Rib Gold middle (fine wire)
  • Eyes Green shell lip (bead-chain or mono barbell)
  • Thorax Olive ostrich herl (dubbing)
  • Legs/Hackle Brown partridge (one, sparse collar)

How to tie it

  1. Mount the hook and start thread behind the eye; figure-8 a set of green bead-chain eyes in at the 85% mark.
  2. Run the thread to the bend and tie in a short olive marabou tail, no longer than half a shank, to wiggle like the natural.
  3. Bind in the gold wire, then dub a slim tapered olive abdomen forward over the rear two-thirds.
  4. Rib the abdomen with 5 open turns of wire.
  5. Wind a sparse partridge collar for legs and sweep it back.
  6. Dub a fatter olive thorax and figure-8 it around and behind the eyes.
  7. Whip finish behind the eye and cement.
