Reference Recipe

  • Hook standard wet-fly hook, 10-12
  • Thread olive 8/0

Materials

  • Tail Brown partridge (small bunch of fibers)
  • Body Olive-green material (dubbing or floss)
  • Rib Gold middle (fine wire)
  • Hackle Brown partridge (one, soft collar)
  • Wing Gray mallard (matched slips or bunch)

How to tie it

  1. Mount the hook and lay a thread base to the bend.
  2. Tie in a short partridge-fiber tail and bind in the gold wire rib.
  3. Dub a slim olive-green body forward to the 75% mark and rib it with 5 open turns.
  4. Wind a soft brown-partridge hackle collar of 2 turns and sweep the fibers back and down.
  5. Set a gray mallard wing low over the body, tips reaching the bend.
  6. Form a small head, whip finish, and cement.
