Materials
Trailing Shuck Wrapped marabou or pheasant tail
Ribbing X-small wire
Over Shuck Z-Lon or Antron ribbed with wire
Wing Enrico Puglisi Trigger Point fibers
Hackle Rooster neck or saddle hackle
How to tie it
Start the pre-waxed thread on the size 10 dry fly hook and tie in the X-Small wire at the bend.
Break off, do not cut, a few thin wisps of marabou so the ends are uneven, and tie them in at the bend as the trailing shuck.
Put more of the same marabou in a dubbing loop by the tip, twist it with a dubbing twister so a fish cannot tear it apart, and wrap it forward, still twisting as you go, into a tapered body. Stop at the wing position and snip.
Stretch the Z-Lon to tame the crinkle, take about half of it, and tie it in at the wing position lying back over the body as the over shuck. Snip the excess and trim it a little shorter than the marabou.
Wrap the wire forward through the marabou and Z-Lon as the rib, and tease the body out if you want it buggier.
Tie in a bunch of Enrico Puglisi Trigger Point fibers pointing rearward with a pinch wrap so they stay on top of the shank. Snip the excess.
Dub a rough, fuzzy thorax of sparkle dubbing back over the wing base and forward between the hook point and the eye, building it up without crowding the head.
Pull the Trigger Point fibers forward over the thorax, pinch and pull the thread down a couple of times to hold them on top as the forward-facing wing. Trim later.
Strip the base of the Rooster neck or saddle hackle, tie it in behind the wing with a couple of wraps, and move the thread forward under the wing. Wind about three turns behind the wing and a couple in front, then snip.
Whip finish with five wraps to build a small head. Then trim the wing to a bit shorter than the body and break the marabou shuck back so it is not too long.
