  • Hook up-eye salmon/steelhead wet hook, 4-8
  • Thread black 6/0

Materials

  • Butt Fluorescent green material (chenille or floss, short)
  • Tail Grizzly hackle (small bunch of hackle fibers)
  • Body Black ostrich herl (chenille)
  • Rib Silver metal tape (flat or oval tinsel)
  • Wings Grizzly hackle (two hackle tips, splayed)
  • Collar Grizzly hackle (one hackle)

How to tie it

  1. Mount the hook and start thread above the barb.
  2. Wind a short, bright fluorescent-green butt over the rear 15% of the shank.
  3. Tie in a small bunch of grizzly hackle fibers for a tail about half a shank long, then tie in the silver rib.
  4. Wrap a slim black chenille body forward to the 75% mark and rib it with 5 open turns.
  5. Select two matched grizzly hackle tips and tie them in splayed outward, curving apart, as wings standing over the body.
  6. Wind a grizzly hackle collar of 2-3 turns in front of the wings and sweep it back.
  7. Build a neat head, whip finish, and cement.
