Tyer Recipe

  • Hook Standard wet fly, 12-14
  • Thread Black 8/0

Materials

  • Tail Red buzzer wrap (hackle fibers)
  • Rib Gold middle (fine flat tinsel)
  • Body Yellow mcflylon (floss)
  • Hackle Grizzly hackle (1 soft/hen feather)

How to tie it

  1. Start thread and run to the bend.
  2. Tie in a short tuft of red hackle fibers for the tail.
  3. Tie in fine gold tinsel, then wrap yellow floss forward to just behind the eye for the body.
  4. Rib the gold tinsel forward in evenly spaced turns and tie off.
  5. Tie in a soft grizzly hackle and take two or three turns for a wet collar, sweeping fibers back.
  6. Build a small head and whip finish.
