How to tie it
Debarb the hook, start the olive thread behind the eye, and wrap a base rearward, continuing a short way down into the curve past the barb point.
Strip a small bunch of stiff hackle or Coq de Leon fibers with tips aligned and tie in a tail a bit under one shank long, then bind the butts forward to build a slight body taper.
Tie in the brown 0.1mm wire on the near side and wrap an even olive thread body back to the tail and forward again, stopping well short of the eye to leave room for the thorax.
Spiral the wire forward in 5-6 evenly spaced turns for subtle segmentation, tie it off, and break away the excess.
Cut a strip of the thin white razor foam slightly narrower than the hook gap and tie it in at the front of the body with the tag pointing rearward over the top.
Dub a sparse, slightly built-up thorax of olive-brown UV Ice Dub, leaving plenty of room behind the down eye.
Pull the foam strip forward over the thorax as the wing bud and tie it down behind the eye, then fold the tag back over itself and take two wraps so a short stub of foam protrudes above the eye; trim the stub to about the length of the thorax.
Sneak the whip finish in under the foam stub, right behind the eye, and clip the thread.
