Reference Recipe

  • Hook Short-shank dry/terrestrial hook, 8-12
  • Thread Tan 6/0 (140 denier)

Materials

  • Body Golden tan foam (2mm strip, layered)
  • Underbody Amber/golden material (1 pinch dubbing)
  • Wing White uni stretch (1 poly-yarn post/clump)
  • Legs Barred tan/orange rubber legs (2 pairs round rubber)
  • Head Golden tan foam (folded-forward bullet)

How to tie it

  1. Mount the hook and lay a thread base along the shank.
  2. Tie the foam strip in at the bend, leaving a short tab over the rear, then dub a thin amber body forward to the 55% mark.
  3. Pull the foam over and bind at the 55% mark to segment the body, leaving foam ahead for the head.
  4. Tie in a white poly wing over the thorax so you can track it in fast water, trimmed just past the bend.
  5. Figure-8 two pairs of barred rubber legs to splay off both sides at the tie-down.
  6. Fold the front foam over the thorax to form a low bullet head and bind at the eye.
  7. Whip finish under the foam head and trim legs to about one shank length.
