Reference Recipe

  • Hook 3XL streamer hook, 4-10
  • Thread Brown 6/0 (140 denier)

Materials

  • Bead Gold bead (1, sized to hook (optional))
  • Tail Brown/ginger material (1 marabou plume)
  • Body Gold middle (1 strand gold cactus/Estaz chenille (medium))
  • Hackle Brown hackle (1 saddle feather (optional palmer))

How to tie it

  1. Slide the gold bead to the eye and start thread behind it.
  2. Tie in a full brown marabou tail about one shank length; wet and stroke it to shape.
  3. Bind in the gold cactus chenille at the tail base and, if using, a brown hackle by the tip.
  4. Advance the thread to just behind the bead.
  5. Wrap the cactus chenille forward in touching turns to build a fat, sparkly body and tie off behind the bead.
  6. Palmer the brown hackle forward through the body in 5-6 open turns, tie off, and snip the tip.
  7. Sweep fibers back, build a small collar, and whip finish behind the bead.
