Slide the 3mm Gold Bead onto the Scud hook, then take 10-12 turns of the .015 Lead wire on the shank, push them up into the bead and snip the excess.
Start the Yellow thread behind the lead, bind the lead wraps down, and carry the thread slightly around the bend.
Tie in a Golden Pheasant Crest tail 2/3 to 3/4 of a shank long, then snip the butt.
Tie in the Black Wire rib with its butt end running forward to the lead wraps so it adds no bulk. Bind it down and bring the thread up to the bead.
Trim most of the front tab off the Lively Legz Yellow, keeping a sliver of tab as your tie-in marker, and snip the rear set of legs off through their middle (this hook is too small for three sets). Butt the tab against the bead, hold the legs slightly toward you, and bind the middle with several wraps, catching the little tab behind them. Hold the near leg toward you on the last wrap so it does not roll to the far side.
Take the thread back down the shank. Spin a very thin noodle of Yellow Wool Dubbing (pull out only as much as would float in the air) and wrap the abdomen forward, stopping right behind the rear legs.
Lift the tail, tuck the Black Wire underneath it so the tail lifts, and palmer the rib forward in open turns. Tie it off between the first and second legs and helicopter the wire off.
Cut a section of Turkey Tail wider than you think you need (it narrows when pulled), tie it in by the tip right behind the legs, and take the thread back behind the rear legs.
Dub a fatter thorax of Yellow Wool Dubbing: one wrap behind the legs, then a couple in front, finishing tight against the bead. Check the underside as you go, since that is what will show.
Fold the Turkey Tail wingcase forward, tugging it down under the bead, seat it with two or three wraps, add a couple in front, and snip it close.
Whip finish three times behind the bead, then snip and add head cement on the wingcase and right behind the bead.
