Tyer Recipe

  • Hook Plastic/alloy tube with treble or single trailing hook, Tube, 1-2 inch
  • Thread Black 8/0

Materials

  • Body Gold middle (flat gold tinsel or mylar)
  • Rib Gold middle (oval tinsel)
  • Underwing Red buzzer wrap (bucktail)
  • Overwing Yellow mcflylon (bucktail)
  • Collar Yellow mcflylon (hackle (optional))

How to tie it

  1. Mount the tube on a needle and start thread near the rear.
  2. Tie in the oval rib, wrap a flat gold tinsel body forward, then rib it and tie off.
  3. Tie in a sparse red bucktail underwing at the front.
  4. Tie in a slightly longer yellow bucktail overwing on top.
  5. Optionally wind a yellow hackle collar and sweep it back.
  6. Form a small head, whip finish, cement, and remove from the needle.
