Tyer Recipe

  • Hook wet fly, 10-14
  • Thread brown 8/0

Materials

  • tail Brown hackle fibers (few)
  • body dubbing Amber / hare's ear (thin)
  • rib Flat gold tinsel (1)
  • hackle Brown partridge (1)
  • wing Mottled hen pheasant / turkey (matched slips)

How to tie it

  1. Start the thread behind the eye, run to the bend, and tie in brown hackle fibers for the tail.
  2. Tie in flat gold tinsel for the rib.
  3. Dub an amber/hare's-ear body forward to two eye-lengths behind the eye.
  4. Rib with open turns of gold tinsel and tie off.
  5. Tie in and wrap brown partridge as a soft collar, then sweep the fibers down.
  6. Tie a mottled hen pheasant/turkey slip flat over the top as the wing, reaching the bend; trim the butts.
  7. Whip finish.
