Barbell eyes Brass/golden dumbbell eyes (One medium pair (not too heavy or you cannot cast it))
Crystal Flash Mirage (Four or five strands)
Rabbit zonker strip, variegated Tan and brown rabbit zonker strip variegated (One strip for the tail/back)
Lateral scale, large Mirage (One length, split to both sides)
Silly legs Pumpkin (Two pairs, about 1.5x the hook length)
Gold dubbing blend Gold (holographic. Antron dyed antique gold and rabbit fur mixed) (Enough for a dubbing loop body plus a short dubbed head)
How to tie it
Lay a gold thread base on a size 6 4x long streamer hook, then tie in the medium brass barbell eyes toward the front with figure-eight wraps, helicoptering the thread around the base. Check that they are straight.
Run the thread back to the end of the shank at the bend and put a small dab of super glue there to cure while you build the fly.
Tie in four or five strands of Mirage Crystal Flash at the bend and leave them hanging long, do not trim yet.
Wet the end of a variegated tan and brown rabbit strip to compress the fur so it does not build a bump, notch the tie-in end to a point, and tie it in at the bend. Because the barbell eyes make the fly invert, the variegated side of the strip faces the fish, so do not reverse it.
Build a dubbing loop and load it with the gold blend, twist it tight, and wrap a slim body forward, stopping just short of the barbell eyes. Keep it thin.
Tie in the large Mirage lateral scale at the head, separating it so a strand hangs down each side, and clip it even with where the tail begins. It stays loose to flash and flop in the water.
Tie in the pumpkin silly legs over the tinsel, two per side, about one and a half times the hook length so they track and flop. Even them up and trim the excess.
Dub a little more of the gold blend directly on the thread (no loop needed for this short section) and wrap it forward over the leg butts and around the barbell eyes to finish the head.
Whip finish, then pick the dubbing out with a bodkin so the holographic fibers and gold work together.
