Classic Recipe

  • Hook Egg hook or scud, 8-12
  • Thread None (yarn wraps only)

Materials

  • Body Glo Bug Yarn (Oregon cheese, chartreuse, or pink) (2 inches)

How to tie it

  1. Mount the short-shank egg hook, start thread at midshank.
  2. Cut 2-3 short lengths of Glo Bug yarn and lay them crosswise over the shank.
  3. Lock them down with very tight X-wraps. The tighter the wraps, the better the yarn flares.
  4. Gather all the yarn straight up above the shank, pull it taut in one hand.
  5. Trim across in one confident scissor cut, slightly above the shank. The yarn springs into a neat ball. One cut. Snipping at it makes a ragged egg.
  6. Drop of cement on the thread wraps underneath.
