Note: Contested against a published dressing: MISMATCH. Ours is a bucktail-and-tinsel baitfish (white bucktail tail, pearl tinsel/braid body, green or gray bucktail wing, Flashabou, stick-on eyes, white/clear thread, 4XL hook size 4-8). Reference Recipe

  • Hook 4XL streamer hook, 4-8
  • Thread White or clear 6/0

Materials

  • Tail White bucktail with pearl flash (sparse clump)
  • Body Pearl or holographic tinsel/braid (full shank)
  • Wing/back Green or gray bucktail over pearl flash (layered)
  • Flash Silver and pearl Flashabou (generous)
  • Eyes Adhesive stick-on (1 pair)

How to tie it

  1. Mount the hook, start thread near the eye, and tie in a sparse white bucktail tail with a few strands of pearl flash at the bend.
  2. Bind in pearl or holographic braid at the rear and wrap it forward over the whole shank for a glittery body, then tie off near the eye.
  3. Layer a generous bunch of silver and pearl Flashabou over the top as flanks.
  4. Stack white bucktail on the belly and green or gray bucktail on top for a baitfish back, keeping the profile slim.
  5. Build a smooth thread head, whip finish, and snip.
  6. Coat the head with UV resin and press a stick-on eye to each side.
